STOL Optimized High Lift Control Surface

The KIN UltraFlap is a high performance upgrade designed for RC bush planes, STOL flyers, and slow speed trainers. Engineered for maximum lift and control at low speeds, the separate detached control surfaces combine with the existing ailerons to greatly enhance takeoff and landing performance.

Perfect for casual flying or full STOL competition use, the KIN Split Flap is precision built from lightweight PCTG plastic, carbon fiber tube, carbon fiber rods, and light weight vinyl covering to achieve its ultra light and stiff construction.

Although this kit is sized specifically for the AeroScout, the control surface pivot arm allows for both surface mounting or wing rib mounting allowing compatibility with most high-wing and mid-wing RC aircraft, including foam and balsa builds

Control Compatibility: If your setup uses the stock AeroScout Spektrum A331 receiver (single channel aileron control), the flaps can only be controlled as ailerons, however they can be pre-set to a flap deflection such as 20° prior to flight to gain more lift. For full dynamic flaperon control, we recommend upgrading to an unlocked Spektrum receiver such as the AR630 or AR631.

Every performance upgrade has tradeoffs, here's what to expect:

• Increased Drag: The KIN UltraFlap dramatically increases lift, but also increases drag especially at high deflection angles. This reduces glide efficiency and will increase the need for power-on approaches during landing.
• Control Mixing Complexity: Configuring as a fully functioning flaperon requires mixing and careful tuning of differential throws. Novice pilots may need assistance.

• Servo Load: At high deflection angles (30°+) and high speeds, flap surfaces exert high torque on servos. Metal gear servos and/or higher torque servo's while not necessary are a nice upgrade. Stock AeroScout servos have survived all tests so far!

• Not Ideal for High-Speed Flying: The KIN Split Flap is optimized for slow-flight and STOL scenarios.
• New Stall Behavior: Avoid slow banking turns while flap is set to high deflection angles. Practice high-altitude maneuvers to get familiar with the new stall characteristics.
